wow... so i installed my intake and... it was a completel failure at this point. Its running but its draining hp from somewhere. I took it to a mechanic and he immediatly said i destroyed my Mass air flow sensor. Is there anything i can do about this without buying a new one.

im pretty sure if you destroyed your mass air flow (dunno how you did that) your gunna need to buy a new one in order for your car to run right again

junkyard or ebay, i wouldnt pay for a brand new one.....they can be pretty expensive....and yeah did you drop it or somthin? i dont really see how you could have messed it up....also it needs to be mounted as level as possible, im not sure if you knew that or not yet

yeah... welcome to the world of new cars.... you probably touched the center piece of that MAF. I think thats a "hot wire" MAF. If you touch the wire in the sensor the oil on your hands has a tendancy to screw it up.

not without a scan tool... or a multimeter and test procedures.

ok, this is getting rediculous. I'm assuming by "engine analysis test" you mean using a code scanner, but yes, that is what you need to do. if the code it throws says ANYTHING about "air metering" "air flow" or anything like that, then you will need a new MAF sensor. that doesn't literally mean new. it means get on Ebay, or call a junkyard, and get one that isn't screwed up. they are sensitive, like david said if you touch it with oily fingers it'll throw it off. if you drop it or fuck with it, it'll damage the extra sensitive wire inside. so get a different one. an intake is the easiest mod there is, so if you're having trouble with THAT, then I suggest not touching your car anymore by yourself.

Mr. Thresher, wrong again... Just cause the code says theres a problem with a component, it does not mean that the component is the particular problem. I would see if anyone can give you a small movie(scan tool movie) of the MAP, MAF and RPM if nothing else. Post up the numbers if possible. Since I doubt that anyone is gonna do that for you, take it somewhere and have it fixed... I'd suggest putting the stock intake back on it and takin it to the dealership and tell em it started acting funny.

just making possible assumptions. since the intake is the only thing he was fuckin with, and seeing as he didn't know what the MAF even was, let alone how to handle it, and seeing that there also isn't anything else even remotely difficult when installing an intake, the MAF seems to be his only culprit. And I have plenty of personal experience with codes thrown for perfectly operating components, so I am just stating the obvious in this situation.
