just a sidenote, coming from personal experience, radar detectors are not all that useful in NC. cops can pull you over by pacing you or a visual determination of your speed. many in this state do not have radar.
if you do a lot of highway driving, then yeah, i would get one since those patrolling the highways do have radar.
just something to think about before investing a significant amount of money on a radar detector.
and no, i do not have one.

from what I understand, every detector will do its job, just the pricey ones will do it better and much more consistantly. Also for future reference, there is no such thing as a radar scrambler, so dont be fooled into buying one off ebay... it wont scramble any radars, a detector is as much protection as can be offered from the speed clock.

i heard some cheap/older radars go off when ever you pass a grocery store or a mall, or anything with a large alarm system, i know my uncles goes off so much on false things that he ignores it most of the time. but his is about 3-4years old.....i guess the newer ones would work better

they are picking up the door openers at large stores and gas stations. After using one for a while around here, you learn when to listen to it, and when not to. I have a cobra that honestly has saved my neck more than a few times. it's been great to me.
