ok, so tony's 16 inch cromies are gonna be mine soon, then they are getting painted bronze. then some low-pro tires to fit them. then either getting new springs or cutting my own. i just need help with the tires. if you know anyone with 205/45-16 or 205/50-16 that are used for a good price then please post up. thats where most of the money is gonna be spent.

you can give me or jason $50, i can get them to you. you WILL blow your stock struts, so i would recommend buying some KYB GR2's struts, I put them on Jason's car. Awesome price from Ebay, awesome ride, easy istall, no problems. I actually need still to get the last coilover spring off the car, I have to cut a bottom strut mount bolt out with a grinder before I can do that. but the other 3 are sitting in my garage. and you are NOT cutting your springs. don't ever mention that again, and neither will I, deal?

yea, i didnt really want to cut the springs (kyle and weilands idea btw). idk, i heard that was fairly dangerouse for the car, but do you not have another set of struts that work? or would i give you my struts and springs plus some $ for the struts that are on jason's corolla? i dont have a depe pocket for this, thats why im trying to get stuff thats used and from you guys. uhm, rims should be bought soon after i get back (the 13th) and then paint and tires should very soon follow. then the springs/struts

you stock struts will work fine with the coilovers. they'll actually ride better than aftermarkets. new ones will tend to bounce a lot more. you have to cut the bumpstop perch off the stock struts before you put those on too. i think i have a set of cheapo coilovers layin around somewhere. and why bronze? i think thats prolly gonna clash on that shade of blue but i guess we'll see.

david don't lie to him and tell him he won't blow his stock struts. it happened to jasons, it happened to mine, and everybody else that lowers their car without changing struts. stock struts are not meant to operate in the range or rates that lowering springs put on them. chris, save up the money for struts now so you won't have to take apart the suspension again later to replace the ones the springs fucked up. Here's an idea of what it was like when I took the coilovers and stock struts of jason's car: I could hold each strut and turn it upside down, and watch the piston slide its full range, with no resistance in either direction. They were useless. So i put some KYB GR2's on with the stock springs. Stock ride is much more comfortable, even if it looks ghey.

my struts have yet to blow out and they were on phils car that flipped and everything else.they ride much nicer than the kyb's that were on stock coupe, also no matter what strut you buy if its not for lowered cars i.e. agx's or equal they are not going to function any better thay may not bottom out but thats bc there new.

thanks again doctor thresher! i wasnt saying that the struts wouldnt blow, i was saying that they'll work fine to start with. tein makes springs for that body corolla now. i'm sure they're worth every penny that they sell for. The reason they blow is not the fact that the rates of springs any stuff like that(it is but, continue reading), the fact that the struts are basicly compressed all the time is what really murders em. with coilovers its even worse because they make the car ride soooo low. not to mention the spring rates of those things.

which was exactly my point....so yes they will blow, but they will probably last a month or 2 before they do.
