As most of you probably know, i just ordered my carbon fiber boser hood, but before i install it i need some opinions on what all if anything, that i shoudl get to prepare for installing it. ive been reading on some vw forums and most ppl say that the hood pins are good to aviod cracking and bending out of place, espeically if plan to take it the track, or so they say. so basically im asking all you more experience ppl whether they are A) neccessary(sp?) and B)if its true what they are saying.. thanks homies pz

with a boser hood, hoodpins are a must. folks will tell you that it will close securely without them. this is true but, as you mentioned, you have to use the pins to *prevent* cracking and bending. more importantly, at high speeds, the hood can fly up and hit your windshield. i have seen it with this hood and also fiber image's.
be sure when you get it to ensure that the clearcoat is in good shape (if used). if not, you need to get it clearcoated. you can wax it or use aerospace (the company) cleaner and protectant.

i don't really wanna see hood pins on that clean car, but i am not sure how much you need them. I have seen PLENTY of CF hoods without pins, and it looks SOOOOO much cleaner. but i have also seen 2 or 3 hoods fly up. the choice is up to you, since i know nothing about boser.

from what ive been reading the hood is already clear coated, but if you could tell me specificly what i would need to clean it with or keep it up to shape taht would be great. and i deff dont want my hood flying up so i wll most likely get some powdercoated black pins that i found that wont stick out to much...btw, can we do this ourselves or would i have to take it in? thanks guys

when you do it, if you are gonna be driving the car, hoodpins are a must.

it is more of an issue of it hitting your windshield and possibly going through. i have seen it happen in person. i have seen lots of vids of it. not good at all. and addressing your question about how to take care of a CF hood, you can go two routes: -take care of it as you would paint -use 303 aerospace protectant
