found out the rings got scorched (2 much fuel flooded the oil pass the rings and was using fuel as a lube!) go fuckin figure....so basically i need new rings now...Should I put the prelude down for a couple months and build a monster or put new rings in it and go on as originally planned? Rings 100$- 8 psi rebuild 1500$ 15psi what would ya do? oh yeah and I need about 1000 dollars worth of suspension parts too.

rings and 6 psi on that motor, try and keep it as reliable as possible and save for the full reuild.
its an f22 correct? Does it have the floating cylinders (water jacket surrounds each cylinder)?

i would say if you dont mind the down time build it up and it will be a monster. i think it would be best in the long run to do it up. if you just put the rings in it and get it tuned you will like it for about a month, then wish you had done the rebuild so you could run 15psi. but thats just me.

I know how pricey all that internal stuff can be, thats why I said just keep it at a conservative 6 psi... those water jackets seriously weaken the block, it'd scare me to be running 8 psi on those internals for any length of time...until you have the $$$ to rebuild

get block girdles if they make em. the sleeve support things. tyler, i think you'll be a lot happier with a car thats done right. i'd plan on it bein down for most of the winter and just get everything done. that way, when it comes out next summer, you wont have to worry about anything but breakin axles with a 300 horse F22B.

also- think, that car needs work to the bearings and the crank now, since its knockin. i'd think about doin some sleeves but i dunno how pricey you wanna get. set aside a budget, a realistic one, try to stick to it, and go from there. its not like you dont have mad cash anyways. get your damn suspension right, jeezus, that thing is throwin mad sparks!
here's the list and how I'd go about it- motor- have the entire bottum end cryo treated or somethin crank- Turn it and run oversize bearings and also knife edge it for a lil more RPM. Pistons- low comp for obvious reasons Rods- get something good Turbo manifold- get a ported 2G or buy a tubular for an eclipse Figure out why your turbo is pukin Head- resurface it Gasket- few tenths of a millimeter taller Valves- any aftermarkets? atleast get some better exhaust valves Port the shit out of it Springs- get somethin nice
suspension- get some ground control's with some decent struts and maybe some poly. bushings and you'll be set. add that shit up and see what you get. remember you gotta get an ECU chipped and tuned also.

Rebuilding will be nice, i dont know how long I can make it just drivin the truck.....fuckin boring. Anyways..... I wouldnt mind doing half the shit you listed, david but how much does the knife edge crank usually run. thickened head gasket no prob bearings i can get from Honda easy valves i dont know yet....port would be nice but i don't know about that either. They DO make block guards for my motor! a new manifold would look way mo sexier but I dint need it as suspension goes....im gettin kyb adjustable shocks and maybe skunk2 coilovers.(no other GOOD spring company drops under 1.5 )

they make block guards, but I've heard negative things about them warping the sleeve and completely tearing the shit outta pistons if they arent installed correctly. also, if your car currently has any cooling issues, the block guards will amplify them multiple times.

as far as bearings acl are the best, clevite yes but all the big motor cars go with acl in the honda world. oh yeah and they are cheap. i would go with new bearings rings and a low comp head gasket i wouldnt go replacing rods, pistons. stock intrnals are good for 300 ish valves, dont worry about them. big valves is a waste untill you sleeve a motor, hondas can make there max block power with stock valves on boost, if you were sleeving it i would say vlave the hell out of it but you can compensate for normal valves with 2psi, its not free hp like valves but its $300 less than valves and $100 in machine work. i would buy valves last.just my opinion. david will disagree.

i agree matt, not dissagreeing. i was going a little overboard with the shit i was saying but, ya know, what else is new? talked to matt a lil earlier tyler, theres H22 low comp wiseco pistons with eagle rods on Chonda's for 700.
