um, no. the displacement is NOT 16 liters. it is listed as 7993 cc. 1000 cc = 1 L so it is a 7.993 liter engine. or for those not metrically inclined, 1 liter = 61.02 cubic inches. it is listed by most sources as 8.0 L. the 16 denotes the number of cylinders in the W16 engine. that is all.

^^ verry smart... doesn't have superchargers too? nope. it has 4 turbochargers as silvia96 correctly posted in the original post. this is probably why it is denoted as a 16.4, where the 16 again is for the number of cylinders and 4 is for the turbochargers. as far as i know, no audi came from the factory with a supercharger. there are several SC applications for audis including the SC for the B5 A4 2.8, the new A3, etc. the only vw's i know of (and correct me if i am wrong) that came with a stock SC are the the limited euro mk2 gti G60 and the once widely available G60 version of the scirocco. the reason i mention vw and audi is b/c bugatti is now owned by vw and thus falls under VAG cars. veyron, i believe, is the first car released by bugatti once it was taken over by vw/audi.

i dunno "guy with the m3" 16 liters and 4 turbo sounds alot cooler then all that fancy math stuff you were just talking about. and why you gotta call him "not metrically inclined" what the hell is that!! the man made a mistake, so what? calling names is for the 'non mentally inclined" i am not sure you got my reference. i did indeed write not metrically inclined but look at what i wrote: the displacement is NOT 16 liters. it is listed as 7993 cc. 1000 cc = 1 L so it is a 7.993 liter engine. or for those not metrically inclined, 1 liter = 61.02 cubic inches. it is listed by most sources as 8.0 L. ------ note that i first give the conversion of cc's (cubic centimeters) to L's (liters). THEN i wrote "for those not metrically inclined" which is referring to the fact that cc's and L's are from the metric system, which is what all the rest of the world except the U.S. uses. and after using that dependent clause, "or for those not metrically inclined," i wrote the conversion for liters to cubic inches, where inches are part of the U.S. measurement system. i was simply correcting the mistake and explaining what was listed on the website. it may indeed be cooler for a car to have 16 L and 4 turbochargers but those specifications are incorrect about the veyron. as i mentioned before, 4 turbochargers is correct. the displacement is not. indeed, he made a simple mistake. but you need to read my post clearly and see that i had no intention to demean, patronize, or insult. i was simply posting up correct information. furthermore, "for those not metrically inclined" is not meant as an insult; rather, it was used to transition from metric conversion of cc's to liters to cubic inches to liters. before you go off on me, i reiterate that you need to reread my post. and if you know me at all or pay attention to my posts on this forum and others, i never go around insulting folks or calling anything out. i have no intention of being on a high horse or talking down to anyone regardless of whether or not i am right and know that fact. nor do i call anyone names on this forum or any other. finally, your using "'guy with the m3'" in reference to me portrays you as the very type of member you are accusing me of being. and it is clear that you were just as hasty to being presumptive about me as you were when reading my reply.

well a typo is a typo, but some of these replies went a hell of a lot farther than "I think you meant cylinders, not liters." But that's ok, no harm done. But seriously, chill out.
annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnyways. The car has a special key, on the floor of the driver side, enclosed in red. When you turn the key, the car's computer automatically reconfigures that car's aerodynamics, readjusts the suspension, and changes the tuning of the massive engine to make the journey to it's top speed of 253 mph, unleashing the motor's 1001 hp. The car is also equipped with a horsepower gauge...enough said.
At top speed, the car's fuel economy is an astonishing 4 mpg. During normal driving, 9.5 mpg city, 19 highway.
Another little known fact: the motor, as it is currently configured, makes 3000 horsepower. 2/3 of the power is lost as heat, so the only power the wheels is a "measly" 1001 hp.

SHEESH! why dont they just put wings on the side of the car and make then dang thing fly!?!?!?!
although i cant help but be dumbfounded by the massive engine pics and illustrations.... i wish i could see this thing at least once in my lifetime. ( i also feel like an idiot for never of hearing bout this car before)
i wonder if that journey to 253mph could be made more than once before it burnt through everything in the car?
