85 GTS corolla (AE86 AKA 8-6) hatch
stock 4AG bottum end- minor lightening
portmatched head and intake manifold
MSD 6AL ignition
removed A/C, P/S mechanical fan
12 in electric fan
polished valve covers
fully rebuilt motor- just turned 1500 miles
autometer A/F
msd blaster 2 coil
espilir springs
i paid 100$ for the car in september with blown motor, pulled it apart- rod bearing busted lead to rod cap coming off busting the block, killing the crank and everything related to #4 cylinder. the clutch was destroyed from previous owner and flywheel had heat spots all over. i rebuilt the motor and drove it for 2 weeks and the transmission locked. now has new tranny and been eatin up civics....
2 months later.... so, the car has taken another turn. i've decided not to turbo the car. the motor i built has had some bottum end problems just like all the other corolla's i've owned. i've got a rod bearing on the edge of its lifespan. i've had 4 corolla's and im about to build my 6th motor. this motor should be a tad bit(30-40%) stronger than any of the others i've ever had. i've started aquiring parts for a 7a-ge. its basicly a LS-VTEC kind of hybrid swap for a toyota. im taking a late model motor(the last motor i blew up out of my front wheel drive) which is a 1.8 and putting it under the head of my car now. i've started porting a new head this week and it is quite massive compared to the stock one. im planning to shave the head also. the 1.8 is supposed to produce 30% more power and with the head work, i hope i should be adding atleast 10% more power. im gonna be broke for a little bit but, i hope it will be worth it in the end, im hoping for about 150-160 flywheel, a little over 100 at the wheels. this doesnt sound like much but for a car tipping the scales at barely 2000, it should be pretty quick. im also going to pick up a LSD rear end this weekend.
