i got a question about BOVs i got a guy tryin to sell me a TURBOxs H-34, i looked those up, they shoot the pressure back into the intake, instead of out into the air to prevent rich mixtures after shifts...baisically its a bypass valve not a blow off. is this at all what i need? i didnt even know they came like that....altho i do think i know what hose it vents into , of i assume i could just make it vent into the air by just not connecting it to a hose www.turboxs.com/pic.php?ID=7thanks

wow..............ummmmmm, you got me there buddy. i dont even know exactly how that would work, although it would be nice to be sprayed by an overflow of rich car leftovers

it's called a recirculating blow off valve, and it's quite common. it's up to you, tony. the sound will me much quieter, in some cars, almost gone, so if you want a loud blow-off, do not get a recirculating. many stock turbo cars use recirc. blow off valves, so it's up to you. personally, i want to hear a nice fat ass boost release from under your hood.

I was going to install a recirc. on mine when i was putting my KA-T together, it would have been sleeper, and it still will be. APEXi Dual-chamber blow-off valve, expensive, but worth it.

i'd like to hear one of the old caravan turbo's with one blow off by me. that'd be pretty tight. also, all factory cars have bypass or recirculating BOV's. its illegal to vent compressed air into the atmosphere without first going through a catalytic converter. many cars do not run right with an atmospheric release BOV so you might want to check up on it for you application. it is usually associated with a mass air flow car such as DSM's. if you have a recirculating sometimes you can put a check valve on the end of the valve so that it doesnt suck into the intake, only blows out. i still dont have a full understanding of BOV's honestly. they open with vacuum when you shut the throttle but why to they not stay open when a car is under idle? one of you that reads a lot get my an answer on that. im kinda curious or maybe just stupid.

also- back to topic, only centrifugal superchargers use blow off's. roots type blowers are installed after the throttle body/carb so theres no need for them since theres no pressure pushing against the butterfly.
